This is the 7th SETUP of our collection.
Welcome to our home. This is not the house we live in. There is no living room, kitchen or bedroom. In this part of our home, you will only see art. We are definitely not talking about a museum. It is – once again – the seventh exhibition of works from our collection.
This time, there are about fifty works on display. They range from paintings and drawings to spatial works and videos. There are large and small works, and sometimes a tiny work. However, the works in the halls and rooms give as much space as possible. Only in the last room are there many small works that invite you to view them “by hand”, up close.
During the tour, we will not explain the works. We may put the work in context with an anecdote or provide some interpretation here and there. Of course, we hope that we will engage in conversation with each other about the work, about art or about collecting art.
We realise that the arts are much broader than what we show here. In that sense, every museum and every collector determines his or her own strategy of what to collect and what to show. But above all, it is the artists who determine what they create. Whether that is fundamental, philosophical, abstract, realistic, narrative, socially critical or activist. Whether they tell us a story or inspire contemplation. Anything is possible. As collectors and artists, we make our choices. We want to show those choices, because that is good for art, good for artists and, in our view, also good for those who want to see it.
Paintings, sculptures, videos, installations or whatever else, they give us the freedom to form our own opinions and ultimately everyone decides for themselves what they see. That is the beauty of art: nothing is imposed on you, no opinion, no judgement. Art speaks for itself, silently at most.
