Niels Post

The inspiration for his work is Internet spam. He implements texts about love, business and other subjects into his own product. In this process, he leaves the texts intact, including all misspellings. The purest materialization is when he builds up his texts from loose sawed letters that form a sentence:“I am very happy that you have answered my shout of lonely heart”. Niels Post preserves digital waste using craftsmanship. A quick post on the Internet translated into wood, obtains a different meaning: more profound, but more banal at the same time. The same is true for the spam texts he posted on shop windows in cities around the world.“i am prepared to share the money with you in half”is placed on the window of an empty office in Prague. Here, this banal phrase suddenly obtains an almost business-like, official meaning. The photo with this text depicts a building in a city street; a building with marble walls and the appearance of a bank. Post's work is a humorous and critical commentary on all the Internet noise around.

Niels Post (Hoogzand-Sappemeer, 1972) works in Rotterdam.
